Read Genesis 1 – 2

1. Summarize the events of creation giving careful attention not only to what God does, but also to what God says.

Read Genesis 3 (for more information on the true identity of the serpent, see Rev. 20:2)

6. What was Satan’s tactic in his temptation of Eve?


7. How does he use the same tactics with us today?


8. a) Read Gen. 3:6. On what three levels did the temptation effect Eve?


b) How do you think this corresponds to the elements of the world described in 1 John 2:16.


c) How do you see these elements of the world active today in the world? In yourself?


9. Use phrases from Gen. 3:7 – 13 to explain the immediate effects of Adam’s fall. Give references.


10. What punishment did God give to each guilty party? See Gen. 3:14 – 24.

13. To see that Jesus is the foretold seed, read Luke 3:23-38. Take special note of the names Abraham and David for they are significant figures in God’s story of salvation.

Read Hebrews 2:14-18

14. Use phrases from this passage that tell how Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of Genesis 3:15.


15. Keeping in mind what we’ve learned so far about temptation and our natural condition, how do we benefit from Christ’s work as described in Heb. 2:14-18?


16. Describe the action of God in Gen. 3:21. How does this compare or contrast with the clothing described in Gen. 3:7?

17. Using 1 Peter 1:18-19 and Romans 13:14, tell how Gen. 3:21 foreshadows Christ.


18. What have you learned about God’s attributes in this week’s study and how will this knowledge impact your worship of God?
