You'll remember that in our last lesson, "Joshua struck the whole land, the hill country and the Negeb and the lowland and the slopes, and all their kings (Josh. 10:40)." Following their victory, Israel faces new opposition.

2. How does Scripture describe these kings' opposition to Israel?
Read Joshua 11:6-23
3. Joshua might have felt terror being surrounded by so many enemies, but God was present to strengthen him. What command and what promise does God give Joshua?
4. Write phrases from this passage that describe Joshua's obedience.
5. a)Just as God led Joshua into battle, so the saints have warfare as well. What do you learn from the following verses about the saints warfare?
b) What do you learn from them about our means of triumph?
c) What are the fruits of righteousness we gain from winning battles against sin? See Hebrews 12:12-14 and 1 Peter 6:11-12.
6. When their warfare had ended, Joshua gave the land as an inheritance to Israel and "the land had rest from war." What do you learn from Titus 3:7 and Hebrews 1:14 about the saint's inheritance in Christ?
Read Joshua 12
This list of defeated kings is more than a record log, it is a reminder to Israel of what God has done for them.
7. What does 1 Peter 1:17-19 say that God has already accomplished for us?
8. Through the study of Joshua so far, what insights have you gained in to the battles in your own life and how will the knowledge of what God has done for you help you to overcome sin and walk in righteousness?
Knowing what God has done for you, the fight that is before you, and the eternal inheritance prepared for you by the Father, go this week in confidence that God is at work in you to enable you to walk in a manner worthy of your calling.
